Great Lakes carrier’s wreckage discovered in Lake Superior
WHITEFISH POINT, Michigan — The wreckage of the Arlington, a bulk carrier that sank in a storm in 1940, has been discovered in Lake Superior.
The Great Lakes Shipwreck Historical Society and shipwreck researcher Dan Fountain announced the discovery in a news release Monday. The 244-foot-long ship was found in about 600 feet of water about 35 miles north of the Keweenaw Peninsula in Michigan.
